Biography

I am a bookbinder and book conservator in Berkeley, California. I studied at the North Bennet Street School, a two-year, full-time program that provides hands-on training in historical binding structures and book conservation. I have also earned a Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University, with a concentration in archival studies.

In addition to my private work, I am a book conservator at the UC Berkeley Library and a bookbinding instructor at the San Francisco Center for the Book. I make announcements about upcoming classes here.

I have worked in bookstores for most of my life, getting my start when I was eleven at a bookstore named Fahrenheit 451 in Laguna Beach, California. After graduating from Oberlin College, I managed Quimby’s Bookstore, a unique bookstore in Chicago that boasts a broad selection of self-published and obscure printed items. When I first moved back to California, I had an all-too-brief stint working in the rare book room at the famous Moe’s Books in Berkeley before moving on to the Library at UC Berkeley.
